What I'm Loving: All Black Footwear + Shopping Links For Shoes, Boots, and Sneakers

Hi... my name is Albie & I stan an all black situation, be it in decor or fashion.

I recently purged my closet & it should come as no surprise that I have my fair share of black wardrobe pieces. When I turned my attention to shoes & sneakers, however, I realized I had a whole lotta color & very little black. With the exception of my Suede Nike Blazers (similar), stacked heel lace up bootie (similar), a pair of Mary Jane inspired pumps, and Crocs clogs, and Crocs sandals - so basically one of each shoe in each category lol - it's been a real long while since I've had an truly ALL black shoe... meaning no white sole or colored logo or some kind... just black on black on black. So, naturally, I began online window shopping for all black sneakers, shoes, and boots, in hopes that over the course of the year, I'll actually purchase a few.

Wearing all black is nothing new... not to me at least, especially as a native New Yorker. Black, as a backdrop for your wardrobe or your home, for some can seem boring while for others it's intimidating. Truth be told, it's neither. I'm not one for "rules" when it comes to design, however, I will say that when it come to wearing black, two things to keep in mind - find pieces that align with your personal style & wear everything with confidence. When I think about how my wardrobe has evolved over the years - read about my capsule wardrobe here - I realized I strayed away from black footwear, opting for more color, as a distraction from my attire. Shopping for the body I want instead of the body I have has meant not being carrying myself with swag... so my shoes became my swag. If you're looking at my shoes, you're likely not noticing how uncomfortable I am in my jeans or dress.

P.S. I plan on doing a slow overhaul of my wardrobe to dress for the body I have so stay tuned.

I am clearly not averse to wearing color, however, on more than one occasion I would have an outfit in mind that would be perfect with an all black shoe... yet I wouldn't have the right all black shoe to complete the look.

Maybe it's because I'm approaching 40 & my views on fashion have simply changed. Maybe it's because I spend more time at home than I do out & about, compared to when I was in my 20s & it was the other way around. Whatever it is, I find myself wanting to do more color blocking when it comes to neutral hues like white, beige, brown, and black; and also wanting to diversify my core wardrobe pieces & craving more black silhouettes to play with for shoes, sneakers, and boots.

Here's what's in my cart for each...

Shoes

Sneakers

Boots

Even though I work from home full time & really only go outside for school drop off & pickup and family day dates, I'm feeling a new kind of excitement when it comes to shopping for my wardrobe.

Happy Shopping!
