This phrase has come to mean so much more than just creating a monotone design…it’s a whole vibe. Design with black is sleek, modern, timeless, bold, and works in any space. P.S. this is totally a play on words, because the same can be said about Black design…

For so long designing with the color black was seen as this radical, out the box idea, but now it’s become more commonplace in decor accents as well as major design elements. Even as I gathered inspiration for the design of our kitchen, it was easy to find designs that spoke exactly to what I had in mind, with black at the epicenter of the renovation.
Even though the design is threaded with hues of gold and brass, and the warmth of wood, I still continued to shop black & white accents for the kitchen to create a tone on tone impact against the backdrop of our kitchen cabinets.
In case you missed it, my cabinets are a combination of matte white and matte black cabinets by BOXI from the creators of Semihandmade.
Inspired the matte finish of our new cabinets, I was drawn to accents with the same smooth, non gloss look — like my dinnerware from the holidays — for utilitarian and decorative items for the kitchen.
The great thing about accenting the kitchen with black is that I don’t have to overthink it — from my cast iron cookware to our black stainless appliances, the kitchen practically designs itself. Up against our black frame matte ceramic subway tile from The Tile Shop, it’s really just chef’s kiss… pun intended lol.
